The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) has scheduled its annual International Roadcheck inspection blitz for May 14-16, 2024. During this 72-hour period, commercial vehicle inspectors across North America will conduct high-volume inspections and enforcement of regulations on commercial trucks and buses. The focus areas this year are tractor protection systems and alcohol/controlled substance possession by drivers. Inspectors will closely examine critical tractor components like protection valves, as well as rigorously check for driver impairment or possession of prohibited substances.
The International Roadcheck is a major annual initiative to enhance commercial vehicle safety through inspections and compliance checks. Inspectors will conduct comprehensive Level I inspections on vehicles and drivers over the 3-day period. Any violations found, such as vehicle defects or driver credential issues, can result in that vehicle or driver being placed out-of-service until the issues are resolved. The roadcheck aims to raise awareness of key safety issues and deter violations that could lead to crashes, injuries and fatalities involving commercial vehicles.
